It is sometimes assumed that I have never experienced bad things in my life because I am too happy. When I say that a huge lesson that I have learned over the last few years on my mission to learn how to fight like hell for my happiness is that those very people that are the happiest are like that because they have experienced some pretty horrible things.  It is through those things that they have experienced that give them the perspective to know the alternative to not embracing the joy and love that life has to offer and to fight like hell to keep and maintain it.  Let’s talk about that today.

Consequential Boundaries Day 10 Loving You | Love Chat

Welcome to Day 10 of Loving You and Love Chat Sunday.  Today I wanted to share a video that reminds us that when we set boundaries there are consequences of setting them.  With those boundaries come those requirements that we set out, that can be easy or hard for us to accept in setting those requirements that we are making not just of other people but of ourselves in enforcing and holding strong to those boundaries.  Remember you set them for a reason and must require yourself to live with the consequences set out.

6 Ingredient Roasted Butternut Squash Soup Day 9 Loving You | Food Love

Butternut SquashHappy Day 9 of Loving You with one of the most important ways to show yourself some love and that is feeding yourself with good food.  This is my go to recipe that is ridiculously simple where the oven does most of the work.  The love comes in from the care and time that it takes to prepare this soup.  It is a soup that is filled with ingredients that are whole foods that provide your body with the nourishment that it needs to move happily.  A happy body leads to a happy mind which leads to a happy view of your life.
Butternut Soup wcWhat You Need
4 cups butternut squash cubed*
2 shallots chopped
2 whole garlic cloves smashed
4-5 cups vegetable stock
Salt and Pepper to taste
2-3 TBS Grapeseed Oil
Baking Sheet
450 degree F preheated over
Immersion Blender, or standard Blender
Dutch Oven
Food Processor (optional)
*Shortcut note: you can purchase already cubed butternut squash or even use frozen, just be sure that you thaw it out before you roast.
What You Do
  • This is the hardest step
    of them all.  Peel and chop the butternut squash into cubes, remember the smaller the cubes the less time it will take to roast.  If you have a food processor you can use that to help you cub up your butternut squash.  For me I don’t mind chopping with my sharp chefs knife in hand.  Add to baking sheet.
  • Rough chop the shallots.  Add to the baking sheet.
  • Peel and smash the garlic cloves, no need to chop, the blender will smooth it out for you, and it is better to leave it whole to protect it from burning while roasting. Add to the baking sheet.
  • Coat the vegetables on the baking sheet with grapeseed oil, season with salt and pepper and toss to coat.
  • Bake in a preheated 450 degree F oven.
  • After 15 minutes flip vegetables and return to the oven.
  • Continue baking an additional 15-20 minutes until the butternut squash is for tender.
  • Remove from the oven and add ingredients to the dutch oven over medium heat on the stove.
  • Add 4 cups of the stock to the pot.
  • Using the immersion blender, blend the ingredients until smooth.  Add more vegetable stock if needed or to reach desired thickness.
  • If you are using a blender then add the roasted vegetables to the blender, in small batches as needed and add to the dutch over over medium heat on the stove.
  • Allow to simmer for 10-15 minutes more to allow the flavors to meld together.
There you have an amazing soup that you can add more spices and herbs to or experiment with adding other ingredients.  I love adding sage and mushrooms or even roasted red peppers and chili powder.  The possibilities are endless and it is perfect just as is too.

To add more joy into eating I always like to eat of a fun bowl, plate or cup.  It adds to the enjoyment that should be a part of eating a meal.  So try to eat of something that makes you smile at each meal if you can.  When you are happy while eating food that is good for you it aids in the digestion process.  A happy gut is a happy body!

Happy day 8 of Loving You!  I get asked questions all the time and I thought I would share some of the most asked questions that I get when it comes to products that I use and love.  In the spirit of sharing is caring here are a few items that I absolutely love for all areas of my life in no particular order.

This has absolutely saved my skin this winter season.  This body wash cleans without drying my skin out.  In fact it has the opposite affect in that my skin feels hydrated after I get out of the shower.  Your skin will feel so soft after you use this just one time.  It is perfectly pH neutral so it won’t strip your skin of the needed moisture that we all need.  It doesn’t contain all those bad ingredients that can be harsh to the skin so you can feel good about putting this on your skin day in and out.

I LOOOOVVVEEEE this stuff.  It leaves my skin so soft and silky and ashyness is not something that I suffer with dare I say, anymore.  Now not all the scents are my fave I must admit and if I had to pick my all time fave scent it would be the red rooibos.  When I can get this in the large tub I buy two and it lasts me the entire year or so, unless I get indulgent with it from time to time, which I do.

The all time fave that I love is the GT’S Trilogy.  It is strong and bubbly how I like it unlike some of the other more weaker varieties, lol.  It reminds me of drinking an ice cold coke that I have not had in, umm yeah I can not even remember the last time, wow.  Also, when I drink a kombucha I just feel better and my stomach feels happier.  I do love how I feel like I am having a bit of a treat when I drink one with the added bonus that it is good for ya too!

I must admit that it is really hard for me to not eat the whole bag in one sitting, or really over a days period.  The great thing about it is that it is only 420 calories for the entire bag, so guilty I do not feel, given my active lifestyle that I typically engage in.  This flavor is spicy and cheesy and this brand is not made with a whole lot of crap in it and with ingredients that I can pronounce and know that they are.  You are what you eat, so yes I know I can be a bit corny, haha 🙃



yoga wheelYoga Wheel This new wonderful wheel of roundness has give me so many moments of oh yeah that feels so good!  This is my new toy of fitness that I have been experimenting with for the past month or so.  I love to use it to stretch out my lower back since I sit a lot for most of the day.  I have slowly started to challenge myself with the different exercises that it shows you can use it with, and OMGGGG they are challenging.  This year for me is all about challenges and embracing them especially the ones that scare me!

I received this a Christmas gift and it is the most used gift that I have receive this year.  This has allowed me to focus on my health and gives me an idea of how I am moving each and every day.  What I am learning is that knowing what you do is powerful in order to know that you need to do something about and what you need to do about it all at the same time.  This tracks my steps, my workouts and how I worked out, my heart rate, my pace when walking and also shows you a map of the area that you walked, and also reminds me to move each hour when I haven’t.

This has really helped to guide me and focus me through my life right now.  I have a phrase that serves as a reminder to myself that I wear at all times, I never take it off.  It helps to have something that is always with me that has a personal meaning of motivation.  My intent helps me embrace my life in a purposefully way.  It helps to have reminders to live our lives and this has helped me tremendously.

Did you know that February is heart awareness month?  Well now you do, so let’s talk about why every month should be focused on your awareness of how your heart is doing.  Since it is February let’s start there and with it being Workout Wednesday let’s talk about how important it is to get moving for the best heart health as possible.  With it also being Loving You and heart focused it just seems right.

pexels-photo-433267.jpegOne of the best things that you can do for your heart is to exercise to get that heart rate up above your resting heart rate.  Your heart is a muscle just like the other muscles in your body when you don’t use it your loose it and muscle atrophy sets in.  Muscle atrophy for your heart is deadly and leads to other ailments and illnesses in the body.   So, getting your heart rate up with some good cardio exercises each day allows your body to work at its most efficient.  When it is working efficiently your body is better equip to move with ease as it is designed to do and you feel better all around.

This back to basis workout is focused on moves that have been around for decades because simply, they work.  These moves are sure to get your heart rate up and get you moving today.  This is cardio focused workout, so while you are executing the moves be sure to pay attention to how your feeling, is the intensity too much or can you go harder?  A good rule of thumb is to see if you can talk while you are working out.  If you can hardly speak then you need to march in place to bring that heart rate down and decrease your intensity.

The workout will be for 4 rounds through of the following exercises:


1) Jumping Jacks
2) Push Ups
3) Jump Ropes
4) Sit Ups
5) Running in Place


Each exercise should be done for  50 seconds work with 10 seconds of rest between the next exercise.  You can take a break if needed between each round, but try to limit the amount of time you take to keep your heart rate in that cardio zone.

DIY Dragon Fruit Face Mask Day 6 Loving You | Skin Love

Today is skincare Tuesday and Day 6 of Loving You!  Today I want to share with you are skin care recipe for you face using my new favorite food item, Dragon Fruit.  This recipe combines ingredients that provide your skin with loving properties and benefits that will let your skin feel the love that you are applying to it.

Dragon Fruit  is full of antioxidants and polyphenols that both give your skin some good loving.  Antioxidants help aid in fighting off the free radicals that we are exposed to each and every day that breakdown cells making them not functioning at their fullest potential.  Polyphenols provide reperative properties to the skin.  All of which applied topically provides your skin with active ingredients that your skin needs and loves.

What You Need
2 TBS Dragon Fruit Powder
2 TBS Honey
2 TBS Grapeseed Oil (therapeutic grade)
2 TBS Kefir unsweetened and plain

  • Mix all the ingredients together in a glass bowl
  • Apply mixture to your face avoiding the eye area
  • Let sit on your face for 15-30 minutes
  • Remove with warm or cool water
  • Apply moisturizer to your face to help seal the deal

Welcome to Day 5 of Loving You!  Today is focused on affirming your love through affirmations.  Affirmations help you to focus your mind on what it is you want so you stop focusing those thoughts on what it is you don’t want. Today I’m sharing affirmations based on your current heart needs.
This affirmation is for those going through heartbreak ❣️.  Heartbreak can be a hard and painful process to go through.  What I have learned by doing my own heartbreak processing is that the key is time and that it is crucial to be kind and gentle to yourself.  So if this is what you are experiencing then repeat the below and practice being kind and gentle to yourself.  It is a process that takes time to adjust through.  Give yourself a break, don’t add to the heartbreak.

This affirmation if perfect for those that are already in a relationship.  This reminds those of how we are responsible for the quality of love we allow our hearts to accept 💕.  Even-though we are in a relationship with another person we should not depend on our happiness and love to come from them.  That has to come from ourselves with our partners love to add to what we already have and also to not take from it either.
Relationship Affirmation
This affirmation is for those that are not in relationship but want to be in one.  The key to those in that heart space is to work on loving the life you already have.  By enjoying and feeding into your life and falling in love with that you will be open and ready to receive someone to come into it 💗.  When we are at our best we attract those that are at their best as well.  So stop focusing on what you don’t have, focus on what you do and what you can do to add to that by starting with you.
Fall In Love Affirmation

The key to affirmations is to put them into action by reading them, looking and seeing them, writing them out, and saying them back to your self over and over again.  Pull these closer to your thoughts when those moments of doubts come creeping in to your thoughts.  So pick which method works for you to commit to the process of affirming the love that you want to focus positively on.  We become what we feed our minds and based on that we live that existence.
